A Playscape where Children Connect with Nature
Rainforest is full of amazing species and happenings, and hence a great gateway for children to get to know the nature. The tropical rainforest used to be the natural biotope that makes up Singapore. However, 95% of them has been cleared due to deforestation.

With rapid urbanisation in Singapore, we are getting more and more distant from the nature. Motivated by the benefits that interactions with this biotope can offer, SĒN is designed with the intention to bring the essence of tropical rainforests into the playground for children to explore the nature in urban landscape.

Inspired by the structure of the rainforest, SĒN has its shelters at the Canopy and the main play zone at the Understory.
Sitting at the observation deck, children can watch the central tree through a more abstract lens of the polyester shelter.
Each variation of the modular play structures is purposefully designed to benefit children’s motor and cognitive development in specific ways.
When the available space is more limited, these structures can stand alone while still offering the same enjoyable experience.
Each unit provides freedom for children to decide their own plays, creating a non-discriminatory space for children of all ages.
